Actually, an illusion may influence one's psychological and cognitive functions. Symbiotically, from those functions, biological and physical functions are affected and may undergo changes. That's why sometimes hynosis works and hallucinations can drive people to suicide.
Haven't you ever heard the sayings, "Blinded by love" or "Love is blind"? Those can be said for "real love", too.
Love, I believe, is an illusion at first sight, but gradually, through circumstances and time, can become real, as illusions can. Or they may prove to be mere superficial/artificial illusions that eventually break, for a lot of reasons, one of which is the heart break described here.
There's no such thing as happy endings, for when you find true love, happiness is everlasting.
