Yes I believe it was picked up by my great grandfather at the end of WWII. So this was printed text? Do you know whether the images in the book are completely printed or if maybe they were painted by hand? The lines appear to be printed but the colors look like they may have been painted in after printing?
I am going to include another photo of the back cover. Looks to be maybe an author's or owner's signature? Once again I hope the picture quality is good enough to read.

Edit: According to a quick Google search, its publishing date is 昭和16年2月14日 (Showa 16, Feb. 14). This is Feb. 14, 1941. Here is some information about it (in Japanese): ヨイコドモ 下
