Or the fish once back in the water would be leaving a trace of blood behind, so that its predators (bigger fish) would have it easy to trace it and put its life to an end So, it gets eaten either way, therefore, putting it back into the water is no use.

I agree fully. The reason why I choose not to eat meat is not for the sake of goodness and decency towards other species, but because I just can't bring myself to. I don't see how it's any different from eating human meat. When you're eating beef you're actually eating from the body of an animal. Gross. Also, it's been so long since I last ate a piece of red meat my stomach can no longer take it. Anyway, I'm deviating from the topic and I do not wish to do so
