Thank you so much for the help. I have been doing my research based on suggestions, and I have found that if I connect through Seattle Washington I can get a direct flight to Osaka. I used Orbitz or one of those travel sites that gets your airfare deals and I found going from CHA -> ATL -> SEA -> Osaka, is like $1411.00. Is this a good price, or can I find them cheaper at a Japanese travel site?
Also my travel agent is setting us up with a shared taxi transfer from the Osaka airport to Kyoto. Does anyone have any information on this type of transport?
