I don't know about american tv realism, most the shows I've seen had pretty intense suspension of disbelief required to keep watching them, especially csi.
I agree with the irritating morality plots, seems like no one can tell a story without having to push some sense of morality on it's listeners. This is another example of how tv isn't realistic though, real life is hardly so moral haha.
Japanese tv... anime aside... doesn't seem to make much of an effort at hiding that it is a time-killer.

This is the first time I have ever heard someone say American TV has a moral agenda
(And on a side note, the term "American TV" seems a little silly to me, as there are hundreds of channels with thousands of programs... each it's own unique point of light or darkness on the TV galaxy. To say "I like American TV." is like saying "I really like this solar system we live in.")
Back to the moral agenda... More often than not, TV channels and shows are accused of being devoid of ethics and morals and are leading our children down a path of partying and drug-fueled destruction.
What shows do you find that are too preachy?
