Sotai sounds like Alexander Technique which means it sounds like you need to do several sessions before experiencing any noticeable benefit.

All the treatments - shiatsu, acupuncture, seitai, and chiropractic- provided immediate short-term relief. However, in most cases I needed another session by the week's end. The sekkotsu was for an injury that happened on the mat.

There was one variant of seitai which a gf dragged me to - and it was more hocus pocus. You lay down clothed on mats like in shiatsu but they lay hands on you and the Grand Pooba would do something resembling a faith healer which included in my case, telling me to say the name of my mother. He gave me instructions to apply my right index finger to my right temple and my left index finger on a spot to the left of my left kneecap to treat my pain. That made no sense to me at all.

I reckon anything reasonably physical - acupuncture included - that gets down to treating the muscle, fascia or posture is going to feel good and do some good for at least the short-term.

I also found a hot sento or onsen does a lot more good for aches and chills than the bath in my home -- basically immersing yourself more thoroughly conducts more of that infra-red heat through your body.
