i recently joined facebook so i for now have some 70 friends...which is only 1/3 of people who are my friends. on "local" social network i have some ~ 250.
and i do know all of those people. some worse, some better.
and i have never been worried about ID thefts etc. i've been "connected" to the internet since i was 9 years old so i already have a keen eye on things that might be troublesome.
P.S stiron xD you ask for your chances to get a girl you don't know in your facebook friends list? you crack me up every time
