Also, to the OP: The value of used books varies greatly based on the condition and demand, also there could be different printings with color plates/without/etc. That said, a used bookseller in Japan currently has a first edition (Japanese-style binding) of second volume for sale for about US$100 (note, that's the price he's selling it at, not the price he bought it at). If you want to know more about the book, it may be better to contact a used book seller or academic library specializing in East Asian studies in your area.
