Why it is better to never buy a console when it is launched. One year from now the price will have dropped by at least 1/4 and most teething problemss will have been fixed by then. I still don't have PS2 but will acquire it this spring.
As for games I rent them for trial and those I really like I buy second-hand at EB Games.
