The thing with renting dogs - dogs in Japan are REALLY expensive. Most people buy their dogs, as a lot of places allow dogs under a certain size only (For example, our condo allows dogs below a certain size and weight.) With a mix breed, you can`t be sure of what the mix is so the dog may grow to be larger than the allowed size. It would be awful to come to love a dog, but not be able to keep it because it grew too large.
So, people will rent different dog breeds to find one that fits their personality and lifestyle before dropping the HUGE amount of money needed to buy a dog.
