if anyone wants to avoid sensationalist news reporting (read: most foreign media), follow @makiwi on twitter. she translates all updates/articles from the source in japan (NHK news TBS news papers etc)
there's also yokosonews who has a ustream and translates the news live (also comments on things during the downtime)
