It's true that it's not exactly the same, but the big difference is that it's powered by radioactive decay heat rather than nuclear fission heat. Still, most of the Earth's internal heat, including that which is keeping the iron core molten, comes from nuclear decay reactions. And like a nuclear reactor, Earth converts some of that heat into mechanical work, which is exactly what caused the earthquake we've been discussing.
