I personally have dated my best friend ages ago because he admitted that he liked me.. but I didn't end up falling for him in the end so it was left at that. we're still friends up to now but after the short stint we had we no longer kept the best friend thing.. I think most of the time stuff like boy and girl being best friends is just a front. one of them likes the other.
