Aah! Looking for thrills, huh?
Well, I can understand you a bit, having lived all my life in a land where nothing ever happens - no quakes, no storms, no tsunami's, no nothing etc.
It's like witnessing a car accident for the first time - it's so out of the ordinary that you just can't help yourself but stare with your jaw hanging wide open.
Though maybe I misinterpreted what you said. Oh, who cares..
Either way, I don't think anyone would be so generous as to pay for the tickets & stuff. You would have to get there on your own and only then you could hope for a nice family to take you in, which still is not very likely.
This sort of stuff ain't that simple - preparations and all... You would have to find the right kind of people beforehand etc. (try student exchange programs or something - for your own money though)
In addition, your motivation appears to be a bit far-fetched as well, like you pointed it out yourself.
To wrap this up - try a different route/approach (way different)
