I tend to speak in decimals rather than fractions, so I can't be 100% sure, but I believe you always say "denominatorぶんのnumerator" and use なな／よん for 7/4 respectively. So:
5/6 = ろくぶんのご
6/7 = ななぶんのろく
7/8 = はちぶんのなな
4/9 = きゅうぶんのよん
The only fraction I think I use with regularity in Japanese (when I rarely speak it now) is にぶんのいち, and I know that one is 100% correct because I grew up reading らんま１／２ manga.
