I used Manga and Anime as an example because that is one of the main reason why kids become attracted. And they are not attracted by the artwork or the skills behind Manga and Anime, but the content of it, the story itself, the stuff that was drawn in it.
People have to be able to live, and living in a foreign place/region/country is not as simple as you think it is. You said you are Chinese yourself, so you didn't JUST appear in America, someone, either yourself, your parents, grandparents had to move to America. I am sure it was for far better reason than just Batman and Superman
All that we ask is that, MOVE to Japan if you want, but MOVE because of the right reason and because you have done enough research that it is the place you want to be. Our comments are directed towards the group that had absolutely no exposure to Japan except for its Pop-media, this apply to all country, not just Japan...

Surely, it depends on circumstances too. Like somebody in my position, living with parent(s), in further education etc. is easier than somebody working in a company for 5-10 years, own or rented house, their own family (wife/husband/children etc), own car etc.
I'm not saying for one second that the first person will have it easy. It will be extremely difficult, but easier than somebody with real 'ties' in their original country.
