A good way to tell if an internet stranger who claims to know Japanese is telling the truth is to ask him/her about the difference in nuance between 恋人 and 愛人. The latter ONLY has negative connotations. If someone cannot answer as such in no time, that person is nowhere near being a fluent speaker, let alone a native speaker.
