We get a lot of geji geji up this way. Sure they're a little creepy but basically harmless. We also get a lot of big spiders. I'm a bit of an arachnophobe so they really creep me out. They have huge webs I have been known to squeal like a little girl if I accidently walk through one! We also have the big hornets. I've never had a problem with them. They aren't really all that aggressive normally unless you try and take down a nest. There was a women who died up here last summer though from being attacked by them whilst on a hike up Mt Yotei. She must have been allergic. Luckily the warmer months don't last too long in Hokkaido so neither do the bugs.
