I am quite temperamental, so the ideal guy for me would be someone calm and sweet, to balance those characteristics

I've noticed that a few guys on this thread have expressed a preference for women with long hair, which made me think of something: A few years ago when I was dating my (Japanese) ex, someone told me that my boyfriend would expect me to cut my hair, because in Japan waist-length hair isn't considered appropriate for wives/mothers or women over a certain age. Is that true?
