Hi. I just joined. While I am a "sansei", my father served during the Occupation of Japan as a member of the US 8th Army, Military Intelligence Service, and was stationed in Yokohama. He is a "kibei".

I am researching detailed WWII history and it involves old Japanese kanji. I believe this means BRIGADE or DIVISION, but I cannot be sure:

I believe it is read "シソウ” or "シシュ" . It is from what we believe is a Japanese soldier's identification tag. Can anyone translate it?
