じゃない uses the negative of the verb ある. It never goes in place of いる. (well, there are weird exceptions like how タクシー could be used with いる or ある, but that's beyond the scope of where you are right now).
Think of じゃん／じゃない in the affirmative sense to be similar to ね (the sentence-ending particle).
バナナ（を）持って（い）るね You have a banana, right?
バナナ（を）持って（い）るじゃん！ You have a banana, dontcha?
