It's actually pretty random. I always thought that Japanese sounded cool since it was only syllables. So I wanted to learn how to swear in another language and I choose Japanese since it sounded cool. From there it made me interested in the whole language, and from that I was introduced to Japanese culture and it fascinated me since it was similar to the culture I live in but still very different.
