All three of my favorite cities missed the last announcement. I really didn't want it in Chicago because it would be a nightmare for a local, so I was really pushing for Madrid or Tokyo. They went with Rio, oh well....

I'd like to see it in Tokyo, but it may be too much for the country to tackle economically. Granted, it's 9 years away and many things can happen in those years.

If I'm correct, the present government is looking into raising the consumption tax to 10% from 5% by 2015. I don't know how much that's going to affect each individual there, but my guess it's not a good thing for them. I don't know what the income tax system is like in Japan and I don't know if they can implement a special tax to help pay for the Olympics.

My impression is that the Japanese would be proud to host the games, but not happy to have to pay for them....
