In regards to the books. Well, the books about the art itself, I could advise you numerous titles, from a light read to a serious in-depth positions. However, if it comes to the method of writing, I know none, as I do not use them. Nonetheless, all is not lost, and you can learn a lot from you tube, if you know where to look.

Look up videos of Joshua (art-virtue)

artvirtue's Channel - YouTube

I swear I searched several times, the only decent videos I found were

also, videos by 001Asoer, they are all in Chinese, but it doesn't matter.

and also videos by by sf108com

To start off, look for videos posted by those 3 users and search for 永字八法, which are the 8 principles of the character 永, i.e. the basic strokes of the standard script, which is a script that you should be learning at first.

Hope that helps. 頑張ってね!
I swear it, I found just like three channels, which had like 5 videos, I googled several times the terms: " Japanese calligraphy" "Chinese calligraphy" "Shufa" "Shodo" and so On... most of the resources were:
Too limited
Chinese only
Taking an approach on the History of it, rather than the techniques

That is why I believe the book approach was the only way out.

I'll have to contact the local language school, yet again, now to beg them to open a calligraphy class...

[weaboo] This is what I get for not living in japan [/weaboo]
