Mello sounds kinda boyish... like a young ruffian or something.

Near has the same voice actor as Kikyo from Inuyasha, or so
I was told.

Both Near and Mello figured Kira had a means of gaining access to police information because Kira killed the director of the policeforce who was held in captivity by Mello 's gang in demand for an exchange with the death note, and that info was supposed to be confidential, so yeah, even Light admitted he screwed up. Near's the leader of an organization independently developed to fight against Kira. Mello has become the head of a criminal organization. Both have one thing in common - to steal both death notes from the police and Kira. So now, Mello has chosen to kidnap Yagami Sayu instead, Light's sister. Near's gonna work with the police in apprehending the 'kidnappers' and snatching away the death note when he gets a chance.
Oh, and the preview showed that Light was seriously contemplating about killing is own sister in panic >.< Noooo....
