Smile Apothecarius Argentum - 02-02-2008, 03:07 PM

I read the 1st chapter at a bookstore last night and instantly fell in love with it. It is the story of Argentum, who was raised from the time he was a baby to be a weapon of poison, slowly fed poison until his body changed and he could kill anyone with his touch. However, he is taken as a young boy to live in the palace of a small kingdom to be the 'food taster' for the child princess there. She befriends him and names him Argentum because he didn't have a name before.

One night, she sees him fall sick from her poisoned food and says she doesn't want to see him suffer and sets him free. She tells him his soul is not poisoned and he can do something good with his life - she ensures his freedom and says she will never have a food taster again and will grow to be strong herself. Years later, they meet again when she is in trouble and he saves her life again and it is revealed that on the night she freed him, he swore to become a healer (an apothecary) so he could protect the life of the princess who brought so much joy to the world.

The manga is SOOOOOOOOO good - it's funny and interesting and reminds me a bit of Judal's Vampire Game with the headstrong princess with the great heart of gold. I can't wait to see how the love unfolds for the Princess and her apothecary. I LOVE ARGENTUM!!
