School Chime -

In case anyone was interested, The name of this chime is called the Westminster Quarters. It was created in the 1920's by Gustav Becker. It was traditionally used in towns as a marker for the quarter hours, half hours and the start of the hour. There were also variations of this tune for the start of the morning and the end of the workday. Many towns in Japan still broadcast this over a loudspeaker. Note: This is also the chime for Big Ben in London, England.

thinking about it that tune is very familiar but not as a school bell.
Grandfather clocks and similar sometimes chime that just before the Hour. there were some words we used to sing to it-- but I forget them. Maybe even some church clocks chime like that too. aslo I believe some church bells play that. fascinating if it is used as a school bell in Japanese school. and in japanese anime. |

I have a clock that does that sound, and it's not Japanese.
