Discontinued Manga T_T

Alright so I'm reading this manga series called Nosatsu Junkie and I go to Tokyopop's website to find out when the next issue comes out, only to find that the series is being discontinued after volume 6! Nooooooooooo asdfgh;
*spews gibberish*! It's not normal for a manga to be discontinued...right?

*sigh* Anyone else feel my pain?

It does happen...and there have been some changes in the industry recently, too, that make that happen.

Also if a manga isn't popular, it is hard for the publishers to keep selling it. Often they put it "on hold" hoping sales pick up, but eventually they sometimes have to drop it.

It sucks...I agree.

That does suck. I know I'd be terribly upset if Tokyopop stopped +Anima before it was finished, although, that series is pretty close to finished. Volume 9 comes out in September, and the series is only 10 volumes long.

Maybe if people were to stop reading scanlations of some of these series and just bought them, then some series wouldn't be discontinued or put on a permanent hiatus in the first place.

there was one i found called Sequence by Ryo Saenagi. i didn't read it, but my friend did, and she said that vol. 1 ended where another volume could pick up. but when i looked online there was only one...so i've heard about it, but haven't experienced it in a series i'm reading so far

Hah I read the scanlations
and buy the manga in Japanese.
It's cheaper.
And technically, I own it.

That's helpful to the Japanese market, but not the English one. It's great that you own Japanese issues, but that doesn't help those who want to read them in the US, but can't, because not enough people are buying its US release. If a series doesn't come across as having a big audience, then more than likely, the series could end up discontinued.
