Yen Plus Magazine

It's a new manga serialization magazine. I picked up the second issue when I was grabbing October's Shojo Beat. Instead of reading the second installments of every story (there are eleven of them, by the way), I ordered the first one on eBay, and I'm waiting for that now. So I haven't read it, yet, but I was wondering if anyone else has, and if you enjoyed it? Do you see it becoming popular in the manga world?

It has gotten a lot of praise, but I wish there were fewer OEL manga installments.

I haven't seen any reviews or anything for it - then again, I'm not huge into the manga social scene or anything. I read about a couple of the series in it, though, and I'm looking forward to reading some of them. As for the OEL manga, they're not always terrible. I've seen a couple that were actually quite good. I'm not a fan of reading manga left to right, though.

For the uninformed, what does "OEL" mean?

Original English Language manga.

They are comics that are "inspired" by manga written in English.

Okay. So in this case, it would refer to the "Maximum Ride" series in the magazine?

Mmkay. They're all worth a read, though I tend to prefer Pig Bride, Jack Frost, and Sumomomo Momomo.

I did not like Maximum Ride, One Fine Day, Pig Bride, Night School, and was so-so with Soul Eater (I know, blasphemy) so it's hard for me to justify a book where I don't like half the titles.

But a lot of other people really like it and my opinion tends to be in the minority.

Now I'm going to pick up the magazine... But I'll feel incomplete without the first issue... :(
