Man wants to marry an anime character

Quote:

A Japanese man has enlisted hundreds of people in a campaign to allow marriages between humans and cartoon characters, saying he feels more at ease in the "two-dimensional world".
Comic books are immensely popular in Japan, with some fictional characters becoming celebrities or even sex symbols. Marriage is meanwhile on the decline as many young Japanese find it difficult to find life partners.

Taichi Takashta launched an online petition aiming for one million signatures to present to the government to establish a law on marriages with cartoon characters.

Within a week he has gathered more than 1,000 signatures through the Internet.

"I am no longer interested in three dimensions. I would even like to become a resident of the two-dimensional world," he wrote.
It's rumored that the character he is attempting the marry is Mikuru from "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya." Not sure if this is true though.

Here is a website acticle on this.

So what are your thoughts on this? I think it's just....well weird and sad to be honest. I mean come on dude, get with reality. Got to give the man credit at least, hes not afraid to admit this.

Fooflowers 11-05-2008 10:20 AM

Heck if hes willing to actually fight for this just let him do it hes hardly hurting any 1 in the process, no longer interested in the 3d world, he does seem to have lost abit of his sanity tho :s

mousee09 11-05-2008 11:38 AM

that is very sad.......

misosoupwitheggplant 11-05-2008 11:45 AM

What will the wedding be?

Annaliza1228 11-05-2008 01:32 PM

Marrying Anime

Well... that's a bit odd... I think it would probably get complicated because there is limited anime characters and sooo many "3 Dimensional" people. What if 5 people want to marry 1 anime character... whatever... I'm thinking he'll grow out of this strange faze and find a nice girl... gosh... but if he wnts to... It's not like I'm gonna stop him... like someone said before 'it's not like he's hurting anybody'... maybe himself...(cause you know anime character are just paint and paper in the end... can't really love back) I know I think some anime characters are pretty hot... but you say something like "I wish they were real." ...lol ... but... i would definately chose someone real (Like Wu Chun or Arron) over anime any day! yAY...LOL

Drend 11-05-2008 01:35 PM

To "grow out" of 3-D women, that guy is pretty lucky in a way I guess. I don't really have a standpoint on this, but I guess since he isn't hurting anyone it's OK. What if a character married is "dead" at the end of a series, or dies before the series is over though?

kyo_9 11-05-2008 02:14 PM

if he has a family, maybe his family will get 'hurt' from his action.. I believe there is no such thing as 'he does not hurt somebody..' term coz this is the term that the smokers usually use..

Crani 11-05-2008 02:27 PM

Who can you marry a fictional character, unless you are one? Because when you marry someone, that person as to say if she wants it or not...

Drend 11-05-2008 04:38 PM

Maybe play a clip of them saying "Yes"?

Crani 11-05-2008 04:45 PM

Well, that makes it a shotgun wedding, then...

Salvanas 11-05-2008 05:49 PM

This guy knows the best way to live.

A 2d fictional wife =

- No whining,
- No crazy family members,
- No complications.

The only thing you're missing out on, is sex. But I guess his hand and mind can accomplish the same things. Besides reproduction.

Tsuzuki 11-05-2008 05:58 PM

xD I saw it x)
well if he is happy to marry anime girl why not x) but for me it would be to boring <3

If this goes through, it'd open up such a huge can of worms the world wouldn't know what to do anymore. And if marriage between two three dimensional people is already declining, then this certainly won't help out much.

And he got signatures from the Internet? Open and shut case I say, the signatures are from people that are, verbatum, just like him.

rofl XD got a point there, but then wouldn't that almost be the samething as marrying a blow up doll?

>.>'

Drend 11-05-2008 09:26 PM

Marrying a Dakimakura might be better then...

Emone 11-05-2008 09:34 PM

i like anime characters myself and pretend to marry them, but i'd never petition to marry them that's gay!!! hey maybe he can get me to marry kakashi from naruto!!! lol!!!:D :p

Actually....theres something better than the blow up doll....

I saw it once on a newscast.....They cost over a thousand....and they feel like the real deal....

scary if you ask me.....

but anywayz.....
I think the guy has too many comics in his life and not enough social status....

*sigh* oh well. I hope he doesn't become unfaithful to his "anime" wife. :D

angelbott 11-05-2008 09:46 PM

Oh..my...god... Oooookay....That's his choice. >.>;;

superheel 11-05-2008 10:09 PM

LOL, i've always thought about this. But does he really have to make a petition for a human/cartoon wedding? That's just insane. He can just imagine in his mind that they are married, buy all memorabilla of his anime wife and they will be a happy couple.

DSX 11-05-2008 10:15 PM

A guy wants to marry an anime character...That's....SO SAD. Even I'm not THAT damn pathetic with the ladies.

I can bet that this guy lives in his mother's basement....He has a 99.99% chance of dying alone...and a virgin

SuperRobotWarrior 11-05-2008 10:25 PM

This is offically the weirdist thing I have ever heard of...

AkatsukiMemberR 11-05-2008 11:34 PM

Laugh of the day.

Guy reminds me of the male lead character from Chaos;Head...

Uriko 11-06-2008 12:13 AM

....who thinks his petition will work?

sailorkittehxoxo 11-06-2008 12:23 AM

I agree with him XD

Ah, to have delusions the way he does. That would certainly be a nice life, if I was confined in a storage container with only my computer and didn't have delusions of scary things, of course.

CarleyGee 11-06-2008 12:59 AM

That's completely crazy....
But I mean, if that's what they want...
Sure... >.>

Uriko 11-06-2008 01:57 AM

i wonder what the catholic church would have to say if it did become legal.

Altaru 11-06-2008 03:01 AM

lol, Uriko, have to bring that side of things up, eh?

... This is a little... Sad...

I wonder if the artist of the manga/anime has to approve of the marriage, after all, they control the fate of the character and have all rights to said character, do they not?

Though, you know... I wouldn't mind marrying Shirley from CG...

Jaydelart 11-06-2008 03:03 AM

Wow.

How would you even do things like a married couple?
The characters aren't even real -_-

Yuna7780 11-06-2008 03:20 AM

This man has no life.

Banzai 11-06-2008 04:39 AM

Hmm, why all the comments about this guy having no life. Sure he may be obsessed but this doesn't mean he ain't any different from others. There are probably a lot of Japanese (and other anime fans around the world) out there who would rather think of being with there favorite anime character than someone in real life. Sure it's some what depression but it at least makes them feel happy. These people do have jobs and do have friends with similar interests. I just think it will help them be motivated. Like it said, he got 1000 signatures in 1 week. He's not the only one out there. Heck, I'm willing to sign this petition if I knew were to find it. Not saying I want to marry Haruhi Suzumiya or anything.

The context speaks volumes.

And besides, Nagato Yuki is the best female character in that series. :vsign:

RegPaq 11-06-2008 07:46 AM

thats discrimination if they say no!! it should be on the national ballot!
