Young Japanese Women Love "Boy Love" Manga
Japan's young women are obsessed with Japanese comics (manga) packed with stories of male homosexual sex, according to Shukan Shincho.
Tens of thousands of Japanese women packed the Super Comic City exhibition held in Tokyo's Ariake over Golden Week. Super Comic City is an exhibition for dojinshi manga, fan-created comics. In two days, this year's Super Comic City attracted 92,000 visitors, 99 percent of them women. About 40 percent of the manga on display fell under the genre of Boy's Love, which features stories about love affairs between two men. Why is Yaoi so popular with women?
I mean, If I say Yuri to a girl she's all like "EWWWWWWWWWWW! LESBIANS!!" But they go off and look at Yaoi? O.o |

maybe because for girls its interesting and almost the main characters there are "bishies" or the "lolita" type........well, its always like that for girls -> yaoi and for boys -> yuri....ha3....I think so?! XD

i personally like yaoi because it has a shojo feel, all of the guys are bishies, and there are usually no girls. so all of the characters are likeable :)

okay i'm an obsessive yaoi AND yuri fan...lol
but anyways i like yaoi more simply because its alot different than normal shojo manga's. most yaoi's almost always have the two guys going through so many struggles and in the end they always find love. (which usually includes a hot sex scene lol). but yea i do agree that alot of the guys (shindou shuichi for ex.) look like women. so yea. at least that's my input. :rheart: :rheart: :rheart: |

For me, I like yaoi for the same reasons I like "normal" pairings. (Really, what is normal? I think love knows no gender. So yeah. I don't care either way. But I'm still straight. Love teh guys.)
I have to like a pairing based on the people and the chemistry. I personally like shonen ai and more of the mushy drama stuff than i like the graphic yaoi stuff. But I like em both. Basically, the gender of the people in love in the story have no affect on me. So yeah. There's my story. :) |
