>>>>>>SPOILER ALERT<<<<<<

I don't think I made myself clear. I was talking about unresolved plot threads.

Moon Phase ends with the two daughters of the King of the Vampires and another living in open revolt against him and Fruits Basket ends without understanding the curse that hangs over the family or whether it can be broken. These are major factors in the overall story arch and to leave them unresolved essentially turns these animes into inconsequential fluff. This not the same as an ending, which leads to questions like: what happens next? Chobits and Shakugan No Shana are examples where potential development threads occurred within their conclusions but essential left them with a definable end point. In Chobits we know Chi found "the person just for Chi" and Shana ends with the Belle Masque being soundly defeated and on the run. (yes, I know Shana II has started)

There are only two scenarios in which I beleive fansubs and scanlations are justified.

1. If a sereise is unlicensed in the language that you speak. Yes, its still ilegal but if thats the ONLY physicaly possible way that you could read the sereise. Still, if the sereise is eventualy licensed in english, I ALWAYS buy the english editions.

2. if a sereise is discontinued, and I can no longer read in english, I will continue the sereise by reading scanlations, unless/untill the sereise is picked up again.

In any other case I think its moraly wrong. You wouldnt steal a CD from a store because you cant afford it, and its the only way you can hear the music. Thats not how life works. Nice things are only for people who work hard to afford them. If you cant afford to buy anime/manga, then you shouldnt be watching/reading it.

oh, and I supose if you missed an episode and want to catch up, and are going to buy the DVD anyway, then its not so bad...

And now the largest anime publisher in the US has gone under. Geneon licences a TON of titles. This is real bad news.

I didnt know this until now. Im really bummed out about this, hopefully we wont loose all of the titles they carried. We need more good anime in the states, not less.

I must say, I was thinking about why Cowboy bebop ends the way it does today, and others aswell. Thats random but yeah. I agree.
