Alright, I just finished reading it, and it was worth the spend. There were some really desturbing storys, and some really interesting social commentary. The last story was easily the best, and had some really cool gore. My only complaint is that the printing quality isnt the best.

I was gonna suggest Hell's Season but I don't want to disturb you all :P

On a serious note however I cannot suggest anything because nothing seems to scare me anymore.

*raises hand* I am! I am! Ooooh Ooooh me! me!

Ok well Im not like a hardcore fan or anything but I have (of course) read a lot of Suehiro Maruo (I just realized his initials stand for S&M, how...apropriate)

Ok well, I havent actualy read much guro besides Maruo's works. Although, I have read a few short storys by an author named Shintaro Kago, that I never would have heard about let alone read if it werent for samehat.blogspot.com.

Other than that nothing really...or does Koroshiya Ichi (Ichi the Killer) really count as Guro? I read that and it's not ALL porn, but it does have most of the same stuff a typical guro manga would have.

Ok I know this is an old thread but I've only just got round to reading Drifting Classroom, and I really like it. It's disturbing not because of monsters or gore but simply because of how evil the kids can be to each other. For me the more realistic horror can be the better.

I've also read that Dark Horse have cancelled the "Scary Book" series. It seems odd that this isn't selling as Viz are continuing with "Drifting Classroom" which presumably is... Strange.

Anyway in the blurb with "Drifting Classroom" they state that there are several Anime based on the works of Kazuo Umezu. Anyone know what they are? Looked on Wikipedia and it only states Manga and Live Action movies.

Nice to see this thread. Cheers to the thread starter for creating it. This is the first time I've seen someone bring this up...

The only horror manga I ever read was Portus. It was really good. It is for mature readers due to it's content, it comes wrapped up in plastic.

It is awesome and fans of horror should check it out.

I just finished volume 4 of the driffting classroom, but I'm not sure how they could do much more without getting boring and repetative.

I just started watching Hell Girl. The animation is extremley well done, but since each episode is just a repetion of the same plot line It gets old really fast.
