I am saying there are many catagories and genres within manga.

There are many styles within manga, but there are very few features that all manga share. We get a lot of manga from a pretty narrow range of mange translated to English, and I think that makes people think they can make sweeping generalizations about all manga....and say something is "manga-style", but that is a little naive.

The point is how can you say what the manga artstyle is?
Most manga artists have their own style, and it's completely different from the style of another artist.

No, you're not. That's basically what I have been talking about, too.

Let's take Vampire Knight, for example. Now if you wanted to say there's a "shojo" style, I'd be less inclined to argue with you, as Vampire Knight's style is similar to a lot of the shojo books that we see in the west. I am not going to argue that the way Vampire Knight is drawn isn't a popular style (and I think it's a great book, by the way) but I think too many people call that popular, shojo-style of manga "manga-style". Not all shojo comics look like that, but there are a lot with a similar look.

Like i said b4 it doesn't matter. U can call it manga,comics,u can call it shit for all i care. When i read manga, wat i focus mostly on is the art and story. If u have a great but sucky characters i'm gonna give u my full opinion and be like no this aint good enough to be called manga or other way around i'm gonna tell u to work on yo writtin skills or hire u sum one 2 write ur story 4 u. But thats just my opinion wat the hell do i kno.

I think it does matter what you call it, because if you call it manga, I'll think it's from Japan. Like if I said "Look at my new German car." You would find it strange if it wasn't made in Germany.
