What do you think is the most controversial Anime?

What Anime do you think is the most controversial? Mine is either Neon Genesis Evangelion (Mainly the series and End of Evangelion) or Elfen Lied.

the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya and death note...

emiluvsjmusic 11-24-2007 02:53 AM

well we were just arguing about what is evil and whether kira was actually evil or not and is killing the worst thing a human could do and so on...

Awww...you took my two choices. But yes, I would say Evangelion was by far the most controversial. Blasphemy, nudity, violence, swearing, some scenes were practically child abuse, and hell, having kids pilot giant robots in itself is contoversial.

IhrTodeswunsch 11-24-2007 02:59 AM

Yeah... Evangelion.

I am not so sure it's that "controversial" though.

I would say Legend of the Overfiend.

Isn't controversy anything that causes you to question society/morals? Thats a literal question, because I may have a warped understanding of the word, but if so, then I'd say yes, Death note is controversial.

"Controversial" is something that creates a fuss within society. "The Passion of the Christ" was a controversial movie. It received a lot of press, support, protest for its violent content and its depiction of Jews.

I don't hear people protesting Death Note, calling it immoral or scandalous.

I've heard it called immoral, but your right. In its time, Evangelion actualy DID get some press coverage, I believe, so thats another good reason to nominate it. I believe the church banned it in some places for blasphemy... And hypocritical as this is, you always seem to be on, day or night...How do you do it? xD And yes, I've taken the time difference into account, and it still seems this way.
