I start with the letter e, I end with the letter e. I contain only one letter, Yet I am not the letter e! What am I? :p

whirring around me when i get hot
water's a thing I fear a lot

your eyes which see me will surely impair
i really hope you do take really good care

light flowing down miles of glass
under water so violent a place to pass

I'm sorry it's not it is the envelope it starts with e and ends with e and contains one letter(message inside the envelope).

actually... eye would be right as well.. it meets all the requirements. In fact... eye would be more right than an envelope because and envelope could contain more than one letter.
