gauging my ears myself.
 

i'm going to start slowly, "baby-steps" gauging my ears.
i'm starting slow so yesterday, i put in 16g curved barbells in my ears.
any tips, suggestions, advice?

Well i would suggest you let a professional do it. But mine are 10 or 12 gauge

I don't understand what this is.

A gauge is like a ear ring but it makes your ear lobe longer. And if you get it long enough you can put a big hole in your ear lobe

Depends on how big you want to go and how soon. My advice would be to continue the way you are. Go up a guage at a time. Make sure its healed each time after its stretched to accomodate the new jewelry. For example your next size would be 14g, or you could jump to 12g. Dont force it or you can cause damage to the area and scar tissue. Leave the next size in until its stretched enough to allow for the next size. I did mine this way up to 6g which is what I have now. I dont plan on going any larger. I have friend who have 1" and 2" plugs. Im waiting for them to insert a dinner plates. You could use tapers as well, but its pretty much the same results. If you wish to go larger in a shorter amout of time you can have it done with a scalpel.

Personally I dont think large guage earrings look good on women, and I find facial piercings a turn off as well.

Most guys I know feel the same way, including myself. I've ran into several girls who were very cute, but upon seeing the gaping hole in their ear I was a bit turned off.

They would say cos "they want it".
So I refer back to my earlier question.
Why?

There is no real answer to that question... It's like asking me, why do i like banana's.............ummmmmmm cos i do!!!!!!!!

No the real answer would be cos you like the taste of them and the texture etc. There's always more of a reason than "cos i do".

Ive seen quite a few girls who were gorgeous, until I saw all thier piercings. I have quite a few tattoo artist friends, so the majority of people I know have tattoos and or piercings, including a few full and half sleeved women. Great people, just not my type.

I got in trouble with my mom recently when I bought some 10g earrings for my daughter for her birthday. I would never condone a 13 year old stretch her ears out. The thing is over the years she had worn some heavy earrings that stretched the hole, so the 10g fit anyway. She would wear studs and they would just slip through. Pluse my daughter knows how I feel about it. I had to explain that to my mom to prove I am not the downfall of the current youth.



As far as why someone does what they do? If you were to ask 5 different people, you would get 5 different answers.
