It's an opinion thread of course there's going to be arguments that's the beauty of debate.

It was becoming boring.
So if conversations had stayed mature it would've stayed unclosed and died out until someone else came along and gave a different opinion.
It'd be an entertaining on going debate that turned on and off.
Giving people who like serious discussions more places to do that.

Goddamn I love how the thread got closed, especially when I can't respond to the ridiculously inept post on the last page.

Another good section would be one strictly for people to flame each other.
Those are always really entertaining and keep the flames out of the other sections and away from people who don't like to read them.

I think there's so much tension on JF because people are never able to just work something out without the thread just being closed.
Eventually people just stop yelling at each other.
It dissolves, it's over but here it never makes it to that.

JF has been treated WAY to delicately.

I even had to tell someone to lay off insulting because it seems like whoever isn't " nice" or " mature" eventually just gets banned.
It's ridiculous.
That's not how normal forums work.

If you have a problem with someone, the place to have a heart-to-heart debate is not inside the thread. If you have a problem with someone, take it up in the PM's. Us in the forum don't want to read your problems, in a PM it's private and you can say whatever you please without being penalized or whatnot.

(I don't mean you personally, I mean all users)

And I think you are being a bit too extreme about the whole ban thing, I give user's waaay more chances then they actual deserve. There are loads of users on JF who aren't exactly nice, but they are still here aren't they?

I only ban spammers and trollers instantly. I'd like to be given an example of who you are referring too.

A section to flame each other? That seems a bit childish don't you think? I find it hard to believe that people let themselves get so worked up to begin with, I mean, this is just a bunch of words on a screen, don't know why people let themselves get worked up over a couple of words which have no meaning on their own. People let themselves get offended.

I actually do agree with how you ban.
But now I'm starting to think you need to ban more or at least talk to these members who are turning all the serious threads into crap.
Don't threat because assholes embrace threats.
Just talk.
" Hey man there are more people on this forum then you and ruining their threads just isn't cool. I understand that you blah blah"

As for the section I suggested.
You'd be surprised how well it keeps the rest of the forum mature.
A play pin for all the brats to play in.

Hmmm.

It's a good idea. However, I consider myself able to have a serious discussion and I don't have 1000 posts.

Maybe an age restriction would be a better idea? Maybe 16 and older for this serious discussion topic would be good.
