Musicals, Plays, etc.

Hey there. I haven't seen any threads about musicals, stage, drama, and plays. I thought in this thread people can discuss their favorite musical or play, and it can include movies.

Aota 08-10-2008 05:44 AM

Mamma Mia! xD

Just kiddin'.

Favorites listed are RENT and Sweeney Todd. I saw an actual Sweeney Todd musical once. x]

clairebear 08-10-2008 05:45 AM

Greaaaaaaase! xD

I will never stop loving it. lol.

Yuna7780 08-10-2008 05:50 AM

I was so disappointed I couldn't list more than 10 musicals. There are so many more I can list that are good.

I don't have money nor my parents permission to go to Chicago alone to see musicals. I'm stuck watching movies.

I've seen a lot of musical movies, but Sweeney Todd is my favorite. I love all of the musicals I've seen.

I saw Mama Mia! in the movie threatre... It was funny. lol But not my top favorite. Peirce Brosnan CANNOT sing...

Teesama 08-10-2008 05:57 AM

Grease, Chicago.

Then our Czech: Dracula, Dr. Jekyll&Mr. Hyde, Joanne D'Arc, Gallileo, Golem, Rat-catcher, Three musketeers,...

They all have beautiful music, actors and story .p

Hackimoto 08-10-2008 06:09 AM

I like the play Pygmalion, although not so much the musical version. I've never been much into broadway, but I did really like 'Across the Universe'

YouTube - Across The Universe - Come Together

This was one my favorite parts

ThirdSight 08-10-2008 06:33 AM

No love for The Producers?

Man, I've never laughed so hard until I saw that movie for the first time (and Lord knows I wish I had seen it on stage, that would've been amazing).

Yuna7780 08-10-2008 06:37 AM

*cries* I've seen so many musicals and I forgot to mention so many. Phantom, Chicago, The Color Purple, The Wiz...

Not to mention, we must include plays... I participate in my school's plays, but I'm a sucky singer and it's harder for me to get into the musicals. I prefer acting in plays than musicals. lol That's the power of being on the speech team is that it's easier to get into plays. :D

noodle 08-10-2008 06:56 AM

I love "Wicked"

... But my fav's aren't on the list, and most of you prob never heard of them... they're typically french such as Moliere's "George Dandin"... There are so many adaptations to this, but the best one I've seen is by a tiny theatre not too far away from where I live in Paris...

Yuna7780 08-10-2008 07:07 AM

I might add that The Prince of Tennis Dream Live 3 musical was very good. Anime musicals are always corny and very, very, very fanservicey, but I think PoTDL3 qualifies to be great. You can watch the whole thing on YouTube.

MissMisa 08-10-2008 09:07 AM

Mine is Cats! I've loved it since I was a kid. I had the video and watched it all the time :D

I really really hate Grease, it does my head in.

Cats :) Love that one.

BlacKitty89 08-10-2008 05:12 PM

The Producers would be my favorite as well (both the old one and the new one). I'm not that big on musicals, but any one that can make me laugh like that one does is worth watching.

You better be kidding! :mtongue: HSM is possibly the only musical I can't stand. Except for Zac Effron is REALLY cute and Corbin Bleu has the coolest name EVER!!

Corbin Bleu blew blue sprinkles off the cupcake!

ivi0nk3y 08-11-2008 03:00 AM

Blood Brothers.

emiluvsjmusic 08-11-2008 11:18 AM

I've only seen 2 musicals on the list - Grease and Mama mia
I voted for Grease, since mama mia was one of the worst I've ever seen

hennaz 08-11-2008 11:24 AM

My favourite musical has to be "South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut". It has more foul words than any other cartoon film ever made, but I love the songs; I listen to them all the time. My favourite song is either "Mountain Town" or "Kyle's Mom's A Bitch".:pinksong:

DangerousBlackcat16 08-11-2008 03:41 PM

Me love Phantom of the Opera! its sooo sexeh ;D lol

Tturtle 08-11-2008 08:14 PM

Hmm. Mostly I hate musicals, but I would go with either West Side Story or Karmen Gei.

tehXlovelessXlotus7 08-11-2008 10:26 PM

I like the movie Across the Universe^^
It was really trippy, but in an awesome way, lol.
Strawberry Fields Forever is the best song!

jdragon 08-11-2008 10:32 PM

I haven't seen Sweeney Todd but I hear its fantastic.
I really want to see it because Johnny Depp is amazing.
I pretty much love anything with him in it.
But yeah I voted for Grease. I love that movie!
Its been a favorite of mine since I first saw it...a long time ago~^^

QuoyaNatsume 08-11-2008 11:42 PM

OH!! >.< hard decision...but I chose Hairspray over Grease :_:
I love them both & the movies.

*sings*
"You're the one that I want!! Ooh ooh ooh honey!!"
:p

Yuna7780 08-18-2008 06:29 AM

ignore this-- double post

Yuna7780 08-18-2008 06:29 AM

Awwwh. It's so depressing to see that NOBODY has voted for Jersey Boys or for A Chorus Line. JB is one of the hottest things going on in my area!

Wasn't A Chorus Line on the list of the top musicals people have seen before Wicked beat it's record or something?

Dora 08-18-2008 08:43 AM

I LOVE The Sound of Music, i used to watch it atleast twice a day in the summer holidays when i was a kid- it drove my mum mad. I don't like the stage version of it though, i think it's because i have become to attached to the actors in the film and how they do things.

Chicago is awesome, and my second fave after sound of music- every song in chicago is amazing and the film and stage show are both great.

I'm also a fan of Rent, as my drama teacher was obsessed with it so we got it forced upon us a lot.

I'm going to see Les Miserables for the first time in London next year, i'm so excited! The clips i have seen so far look incredible.

chibichick83 09-05-2008 05:19 PM

My favourite musical isn't listed, and that's Disney's The Lion King, followed closely second by Disney's Beauty And The Beast :)

CarleyGee 09-05-2008 05:20 PM

Grease is my favorite, it's such a classic ^_^

Merisa 09-05-2008 05:37 PM

Grease and Sweeney Todd!

Although the Lion King and Beauty and the Beast were good too ^^

redzalot 09-11-2008 02:35 PM

Aniki 03-10-2009 07:31 PM

I can't stand musicals, but if I ever have to watch one then I would choose Pink Floyd The Wall.

koikurasu 03-10-2009 07:55 PM

For me it was a close tie between Sweeny Todd and Grease. :P
