These include ear cleaning (耳かき, Mimikaki), a foot or hand massage, or a photography session (the customer typically rents time in a studio during which he can tell a maid which costume to wear and how to pose). Not only can you take pictures with the maids but also, certain cafe's have special performances. With the new game consoles, some cafes also have gaming time when you can ask your favourite maid to play with you but there are also traditional games such as "Jankenpon" (じゃんけんぽん), which is Rock, Paper, Scissors. Akihabara even features a "maid megane" (maid optician)."

Too funny. But wtf is a "Maid Optician". I reckon it would be funny as to go.

ear cleaning....EAR CLEANING WTF LOL ew! xD i would never clean someone else's ears...only if they gave me a million bucks...xDDDD

As for the 'photography session', I guess I understand what you mean. I think I just imagined it to be a little more perverted.
If they're simply posing from a distance, I guess that would make a little more sense... (But still a little weird)

I think the real "upside" to visiting a Maid Cafe would be that (a) you have a place to meet people of similar interests, (b) you get to eat/drink and (c) you are surrounded by young women in dresses whose primary objective is to please you (which, if you're a guy, it shouldn't be hard to sense the significance).

Well, haha, there's alot of people (everywhere) not enjoying their jobs... As long as no real abuse is involved it's fine imo. About the "master" thing or whatever... Well, there are servants everywhere. You don't see people going "oh those poor english butlers!!"

I don't see what's so perverted about a photo shoot with some model in a certain uniform? Even if she would go nude it would just be a nude photo shoot.

Edit: Yeah, ear cleaning seems kinda far out... haha. Then again, I wouldn't clean people's toenails either (pedicure).

Um, an optician dressed as a maid? You know, to get glasses and stuff...

Who said they were at the cafés? Didn't the info just say that there were "maid opticians" also...

I guess some people would rather get their eyes checked by a maid than by a regularly-dressed person.

My bad i read that Paragraph and thought all that stuff was at the Cafes. Thats why i got so confused. well.. it all was besides the Optician anyway.

Yeah I can see how you'd think that :) Anyways... I wonder if you can get all these things with another theme too? I'd like a ninja or samurai optician, PUH-LEEZE!

That's fine, but I simply disagree. I like to shed a bit of compassion in my lifetime. :)

First of all, I don't understand (if you're as mature as I believe you to be) how you can't see the potential perversness in random strangers taking photos of women whom they'd only met at a cafe.
Secondly, as I'd just previously explained: I may have had the wrong impression of it, initially, and I would have less of a problem if they were conducting the shoot in a less perverted manner than I was invisioning.

As for being in the nude... Well, I can simply respond to that argument by pointing out that nude photoshoots are mostly formally done by professionals. Otherwise, it can easily just be considered porn.

First off: Compassion is good :) I wasn't saying it was a good thing people don't like their jobs, just that it's an universal thing not limited to "maid cafes".

Look. Taking photos of strangers in general is not illegal in any way, shape, or form. Sure there are some pervs out there, and I don't like that. But I read that info pretty much as people can hire a "maid model" for photographing. I don't think that's a big deal.

I may have had the wrong impression, too (hoping I didn't). If so, yes, you're right... I mean, as long as they don't treat the women badly in the "photo sessions", noone can really control if they go home and beat off to the photos, or whatever. Sure it's not a pretty thought, but still it's fairly harmless, wouldn't you say?

Hm, well porn is done just as professionally as nude photographing, it's just a different thing :) But yeah you're right, an amateur has a much harder time finding nude models, I'm sure. That was just an extreme example anyways, the maids don't go nude I'm sure?

I think were on the same page here, just with different words...
