If you could visit one shop in Japan...

If you could visit only one shop in Japan, where would you go?

MissMisa 08-23-2008 06:18 PM

Clothes boutique! I love shopping for clothes very much, and although I can't imagine it being much different from here, I'd love it anyway! I'm more interested in this probably more than anything else, to be honest, I'm not that much of a big manga fan, and although I like some Japanese food it isn't my favourite. So that's what I pick.

clairebear 08-23-2008 06:23 PM

Lol @ maid cafe.

I'd probably go shopping for clothes too. xD
I'm stuck between clothes shopping and DVD/music store, but I guess if I had to pick just one, I'd go to the clothes shop.

Payne222 08-23-2008 06:24 PM

I dunno really.
You can go to any of
those stores here really...

But maybe a Japanese soccer store?
Get the Japan home jersey.
Or an FC Tokyo one.

reihiino 08-23-2008 06:53 PM

Argh! I wanted to choose all! but i decided Manga shop...that would be to see all the Mangas that have not been released here in the US...like Naruto & Beauty Pop...& mos def' Kaze Hikaru!

Thunda 08-23-2008 08:02 PM

clothz store

I would buy simple clothz with japaneez writingz on it and when i would wear em i would be happy that I have been there. So they would b souvenirs that are useful knowmsayin. plus i luv shoppin 2 like the girls above me.

KikiBunny23 08-23-2008 08:52 PM

Ramen shop! WOO!!!!

Haha, I'm not a fan of shopping, I have all the manga I need at the moment so yea....plus ramen is so awesomely awesome!

CarleyGee 08-23-2008 09:01 PM

Clothes Boutique.

allie2590 08-23-2008 09:04 PM

Manga!!! I love manga and I'd love to see some of the stuff that hasn't been released here.

mangapunkrocker 08-23-2008 09:05 PM

Lolita Boutique

of course i'd go to a lolita boutique if i could find one and then to manga store!!!! It would so be paradise....sigh....:)

Jaydelart 08-23-2008 10:05 PM

Ramen shop for me.

Pyro 08-23-2008 11:27 PM

I have to say manga shop. I would like to see mangas that haven't been relased in America. When i go to Japan someday soon, I want to check out most of the things listed. Picking one is hard. lol

lself 08-24-2008 03:51 AM

Clothes shopping definitely, especially any stores in harajuku, and UniQlo(I know it's some weird spelling like that) Music store would definitely be my second choice though

Hm. I would have though you would choose manga shop, and find a nice cozy place to sit for a few hours.

On topic, I would choose maid cafe. Because hey, I brought up in in a past thread, right?

Kanji_The_Wanderer 08-24-2008 01:16 PM

That sure was hard for me to pick. At first I was going to go with Ramen shop all the way since I've always wanted to try real authentic Japanese Ramen. No matter how close you get the ingredients, it's still not the same..

Then I wanted to go to a sushi bar, but I finally decided upon going to the music store.

Other then drawing, music is my second favorite, and I'd love to get all those J-music CD's that you wouldn't be able to find anywhere else...

Paul11 08-24-2008 01:34 PM

Local micro sake brewery.

MissMisa 08-24-2008 04:22 PM

You know the 'Hobby shop?' Would like be anything like 'Games Workshop' we have in England? There, people buy little models or either contruct them and/or then paint them at home or in the store. Is that what it's like or am I totally off the mark? xD

yuumin 08-24-2008 04:37 PM

Maybe Ramen shop for me.

Altaru 08-24-2008 09:22 PM

Music store!

I'm always into finding new music and such, and going to a music store in Japan I would end up like a kid in a candy store, lol.

Ramen shop would be a close second, closely followed by sushi bar, then a manga shop.

kiyuga 08-24-2008 09:30 PM

A clothes boutique!!!! I would buy everything in it!!!!

I don't know Games Workshop, but I think all the constructing goes on at home.

Kir0 08-24-2008 10:50 PM

Lawson! Or not. Its a convienient store in Japan.

Anyway, I'd probebly pick Ramen. I actually didn't have any Ramen while I was there, but I did have Udon. Theres a Japanese restraunt near me called Tomos that is pretty authentic to Japanese cuisine, except for the Udon noodles...they have much more flavor in Japan.

Shopping for gifts and all kinds of Japanese made products is always fun, such as anime figures, or gaming stuff, but clothes shopping and shoe shopping can be difficult for some because they're sizes run so small. I have big feet by Japanese standards, and American standards too probebly. XD

I tried on a shirt while I was in Shibuya, in one of those really tall shopping buildings(there all tall), and that didn't work out too well. I managed to get it buttoned all the way up, but it was pretty tight. My bust is much bigger than most Japanese girls.

ivi0nk3y 08-24-2008 10:56 PM

Manga Shop of course

Then after that some kinda gadget shop or electronic super store. :D

Nah, there's a Japanese book store
in Arlington Heights in Mitsuwa.
It's like the, uh....
Japanese Borders.
XD
They got comfy chairs and everything.

Kiyuge 08-25-2008 12:15 AM

If I could go one place in Japan I would go to the clothing thingy. I was thinking first about the Manga Shop but then I thought if it was in Japan then it would be in Japanese and I cant really read very much Japanese sooo... I chose The Clothing Boutique.

O.K. I have to agree with Lawson Station. I can't not go there when I visit Japan. I always bring home a bunch of "Frisk" mints from Lawson.

reptilesandsamurai 08-25-2008 02:05 AM

Ramen from this place:

OsakaPapa 08-25-2008 02:10 AM

This one's easy. I'd go back to Super Potato in Akihabara..it's the retro gamer's heaven *.*

drummachick 08-25-2008 02:22 AM

RAMEN RAMEN!!! Sushi and Manga chooou close 2nd & 3rd!

Sangetsu 08-25-2008 02:33 AM

Hmm, where to go? Takashimaya is expensive, but they have everything from groceries to Brioni suits.

I suppose Tokyu Hands would be the best place. They have clothing, furniture, home decor, arts and crafts, pretty much everything but food. Anytime I need something for whatever the reason (yukata and geta for a festival, or a wrench to fix my bicycle) they have it there.

hirumasgirl 08-25-2008 02:32 PM

Manga Shop!

I will rush like storm in their manga shops and buy all the manga I love then eat lots & lots of sushi, maki and ramen while readingthem!:vsign:

LittleFallenAngel 08-25-2008 03:30 PM

I would go to a music store^^.
Because I seriously love music...O_o;;
and ummm I would go for the last to like a clothing store ._.;;
or like after i've bought music ._.;;

SSJup81 08-25-2008 10:32 PM

A Ramen shop. Something about eating Ramen in an authentic atmosphere seems nice.

That aside, no way I could probably do clothes shopping in Japan, even if I was at my ideal size. Women clothing probably wouldn't fit me right due to my 5'10 height.

Edit: Scratch that. I'd go to a music store. I would be able to pick up cds from artists I truly like at nice, non-imported prices. I could finally, maybe [if it's in print], buy everything on my list and finally get rid of the downloaded versions of stuff I still have that I've always wanted to purchase, like more DREAMS COME TRUE cds or collecting more works by Akino Arai or keeping up with m.o.v.e cds, etc.

emiluvsjmusic 08-26-2008 11:41 AM

I chose DVD/music store but I'd want to go to all of them
...except for the maid cafe :/

QuoyaNatsume 08-26-2008 07:07 PM

I chose dvd/music store. I can get my JDoramas, anime, games, gameshows, music, and so much more......lol then on each visit after that I would visit one of the above!! Most likely would b Ramen shop nex & then clothes &so on so forth.:rheart:

clairebear 08-26-2008 07:09 PM

Isnt the question, if you could visit only one shop? lol
