What about Grind/Hard Core? Does it go into the metal section? Its friggin great, thats all that mathers ; )

Great acts like:
Nasum
Refused
Skitsystem - (alot of songs in swedish tho)

Yum yum ; )

I also like alot of the Gothenburg trash like At the Gates and The Haunted.
Also, a great band that rehearsal in the house I arrange gigs at, Arch Enemy.

If anyone is intressted in Demo bands I got a BUNCH of great ones.
By Night, Trendkill, Merissa Burns Trey, Art Like Destruction and Malum.

So much great metal and so little time!

Technically they are metal.
They're just in one of the many genre's (Nu-metal)

At least Slipknot and Korn (not sure what BFMV is)

Yah, they're "kiddy" metal, bad, but still metal.

You would think so, but no, they're metalcore.

Metalcore, I don't really understand why it's partially
considered "hardcore". I hate, no scratch that, STRONGLY
DISLIKE what is classified as Hardcore music, but I have
a strange magnetic pull towards Metalcore. Why is that?

=D

A friend of mine posted this in a myspace bulletin.

Crani 01-20-2009 10:22 PM

Although I don't like that version of the song, I would pick the Billy Idol version over that one, I find the video hilarious.

Oh same here, definitely.
Billy Idol = SMEXY.

Another bulletin posted by my friend:::

Norwegian Black Metal

Heavy Metal

Grindcore

Death Metal

Anemic 01-20-2009 10:32 PM

Here is a really great Deathcore band called Art Like Destruction, try them out! Good friends of mine. I'm trying them out with gigs and stuff.
Art Like Destruction *Writing* on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads

And a really sweet Hard Core/Metal band called Malum! One of the best live acts I ever seen (and I have seen like 200 band I think!)
MALUM (PRELISTEN NOW) on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads

About your post CarleyGee:
First band is allright but if you want one of the pioneers to Norwegian Black Metal you should listen to the early works of Mayhem or Darkthrone. Burzum is also one of the first Black Metal acts but then he killed the singer of Mayhem och became a Nazi in prison so...Kinda wack!

Second band is Slipknot, right? Wouldent count them as Heavy Metal (Heavy Metal is more like Iron Maiden and stuff like that) I would say Slipknot is more Neo-Metal but they call themself Death Metal. Kinda funny since it dosent sound anything like classic Death Metal to me....

Third band...Never hear it before but it sounds like Grind/Hard core kinda...Another pioneer in the Grind sceen was Nasum (Nasum on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads) Use to be one of my favorite Grind bands but the singer died in the Tsunami in Thailand 2004.

Forth band is another one I havent heard but they sound cool even tho I didnt like the video. Another really extreme and awsome Death Metal act is Vile Scar (http://www.myspace.com/vilescar). Another great band for you guys to check out!

Actually I'm quite amazed they aren't more famous!
Their songs are very well made and not repetitive,
which is how I decide on a good song. They are also
very catchy, (in a death metal kind of way).

rainbowluvrs13 01-21-2009 06:50 AM

well here are a few of my favorite songs:

grandfather-the number 12 looks like you
physcosocial-slipknot
price of beauty-suicide silence
diamonds arent forever-bring me the horizon
black dildo round up doll-preschool teaparty massacre
tell shannon her crafts are ready-heavyheavylowlow
wings of integrity-mychildren mybride

there are a WHOLE bunch more song i know but this
is just my all time favorites
i listen to alot of music.
and i think more people should get into this music,.
cause they actually use talent.
and not just stand there and sing.
it takes alot of skill.

They got all excited when I told them about you. "Oooh, our first American fan!" :pandahurray:

Anyways, a question for everyone in this thread! Is there any good Metal Clubs or Rock Bars in Tokyo? Mabye some J-Rock or whuuutever. Don't really care what it is but just not "dum dum dum Techno" places.
The Mrs and I will be going to Tokyo in April so I'm doing some research on sweet places.

Thanks!

Does Anyone Like Cathedral? I just started listening to there music.

CarleyGee 01-25-2009 06:27 PM

This video makes me want to dance and do stupid things X]

In a good way...

In Flames - Cloud Connected

And

This song is just so flipping awesome.
I just realized I don't like the new NO cussing rule.

Lamb of God - Terror and Hubris in the House of Frank Pollard

and probably one of their most well known songs
(in my own opinion)

Black Label

This song is probably even more well known for the
lyrics being unintelligible and pretty much made up
on the spot by Randy.

Often described as "pig squeals" : D

Gwen_Goth 01-30-2009 02:41 PM

so a while ago i said i saw Dark Tranquillity Live; I've finally got the pics of my old phone, so if you wanna see; clicky the picture: :)

it was a really awesome gig, so small!

*edit* i need to move the folder to a non-locked part of my Photobucket :p

CarleyGee 02-02-2009 02:56 AM

In Flames - Alias
I love their songs, with the weird
almost-techno/video-game like music.

ThuMpeR 02-06-2009 11:36 PM

These guys need to make it to the states to tour. :p or at least out of harm's way :vsign:

Glad to say that they have been granted rufugee status from the U.S. and are now residing in New Jersey. Many of you may have heard about them receiving death threats from extremists in Iraq for their metal music. Happy that their out of harms' way and hope to see them on the road soon, maybe Ozzfest? :mtongue: :ywave:

TheCrimson 02-07-2009 07:51 AM

and i am totally back!

-flails-

and now, while i consider whether or not i wanna leave the forum for good this time, i think i will bitch about the fact that Apocalyptica's having another tour, and as with every other good band out there, they're not coming near Australia cause this place is a poo-hole.

=)
totally.

i totally have season two Metalocalypse on dvd now =D oooo chyeahhh!
