Kinda old news, really. But for those who don't know, M. Night Shamalan (hahaha! idk how to spell it) is making a three part Avatar movie.

BUT, what you may not know is that the casting has begun!!!

Already, Nicola Peltz and Jackson Rathbone have been casted as Katara and Sokka (Jackson is Jasper from Twilight, btw). Some Texas karate kid is playing Aang (named Noah Ringer, but I don't have any info on him yet), and Jsse McCartney is pushing for Zuko's part (good or bad? idk).

So! Any thoughts on this?

Okay, now the thing is here that this movie can be either really good and extremely sucktastic.

im slightly disapointed in the Zuko thing...i think the casting for him is off...but i still kinda think J.M. is sorta cute but...hes not my first pick at Zuko. they could do better. like pick some one whos from the right place.

It's weird.. Why are they casting white people to play characters that are "Asian" (or Asian looking at least considering it's set in another dimension/world) that live in a world influenced by a variety of Asian cultures.

It's something I'm not going to be able to get over.

You are absolutely right. A lot of people have noticed this and are complaining about it. It was in Entertainment Weekly last week that none of the people cast are of Asian descent.

I hate the show, honestly...

I'm scared. I will watch it because I actually like the series and I absolutely love Jackson Rathbone (I'm interested to see this "fun" side after seeing such seriousness from Twilight). However, the director is just... ehh. I'm not exactly sure whether to love it or hate it. I'll just have to wait and see.

Yeah, kind of strange that the only cartoon with actually asian looking characters is cast with a bunch of whities.

It's a bit of western ignorance. "Let's see, Memoirs of a Geisha... get me Zhang Ziyi, she's got squinty eyes!"

Haha... true... I thought it puzzling they cast Chinese actresses in a movie about Japan.

But I don't mind that so much as at least they look the part.

There's a famous NZ actor named Cliff Curtis who plays a Columbian in the movie Collateral, an Arab in the movie Three Kings and a Latino gangster in the movie training day.

He's Maori but plays his characters convincingly and he looks the part I guess. (i.e. he's got brown skin and the appropriate features)

why couldn't they cast Dante Basco as Zuko? He does play his voice. They shouldn't do this movie anyway. It's stupid.

I think...that they should be Asian. I mean, Zuko looks a little Asian and a lot of the stuff is based off chinese and maybe japanese stuff.
Sokka and Katara seem to be casted...okay. But the other one...*shudders*
Scary question: Who will play Iroh? If its, like, Bill Murry, I will kill.
And to think that M. Night used to be my hero.
I still might watch it though...:mad:

I wouldn't even watch that damn movie. Hell, I wouldn't even get the bootleg!
