Thank you all for your good advice ^_^.
Superheel: What thief said wasan't what I'm looking for, your right. Though he was polite about it, so I can forgive him. ^^ In the interest of future posts. Here is a little more information about me. I don't drink alochol (never could spell that word). I don't have a garden. I can't take most western medicene( allergy to certain ingrediants and problem with chemicals). I don't drink fizzy drinks that have caffeine or coffee. I only drink Japanese tea, may have caffeine but I only drink it during the day. I don't have a boyfriend( thief that suggestion isn't possible). I write poetry so that can help me get rid of unwanted feelings. Also there is no one I can talk to if something is bothering me. If I can think of anymore I will let you know. I have started exercising when I wake up, so that might help. Last night I slept 8 hours without waking up hooray! Funny thing is before I started this thread, I was really getting so tired I couldn't think straight. Either it is all your advice or you guys are making wishes for me to sleep. Either way I can not thank you enough!! :rheart: |
Your "sleep" clock works mainly on body heat. The hotter your body is, the more energy it has.
The best way to set a sleep clock is by doing sport. Do some jogging in the morning (at a time you wish to wake up), and after a week, you'll automatically be waking up at that time without the need of an alarm. During the day, try to get as much sunlight as you can. This is extremely important also. Anyway, I don't know how old you are, but the 8 hour sleep a day thing is nonsense for adults. For younger people, you need your 8 hours. You'll be fine by sleeping 5 or 6 hours a day, and according to a study done by the University of California, you'll probably end up living longer. I think someone said that you shouldn't take a nap. That's nonsense also. We're actually meant to take an hour or two nap around mid-day, but because of the modern lifestyle, people have forgotten about it or are just too busy for it! |

Take a look at countries like Spain, Morocco, Algeria, and basically most of the mediterranean countries. They all have this nap time. The spanish call it Siesta I think:confused: |
Depending on what chores I have and when I wake up, I usually take a nap around 1pm til about 3pm on weekends or school holidays

Anyway, here is a little graph to show how the body temp changes in people. Ignore the times, as this is simply an example and times vary slightly from person to person. Anyway, the basic concept is, as the temp rises, you're waking up and getting more energy, as it decreases, you become more tired and sleepy etc. |

Anyway I always find if I'm really warm I'm sleepy not the other way round :S Doesn't matter though, I don't think randomly falling asleep would do you good as it messes up your sleep pattern, that's what I was trying to get at~ |
I edited my post...
I don't think you understood the graph, or I dont understand what you mean... If you become sleepy when your body temp starts going down, then how does the hottest part of the day make you more sleepy? Noone said anything about "randomly" sleeping. Taking a nap doesn't imply randomness... |
What works for one person, will not work for another. I'm not a teenager but I need at least 8 hours sleep which for the past 5 years I haven't been getting. I can not survive on 5 hours because I have severe Anemia and if I get less than 8 hours I become very ill after a few nights of not very much sleep.5 years of insomnia has made my Anemia worse. Even though I have had to sleep during the day for the past 5 years, it causes more problems for me than it cures. MisaMisa: I'm like you, sleeping during the day does not make me feel good. The past few nights I have been sleeping right through the night. Without any day naps. Even though I get tired during the day, I stay awake until the night. I am starting to feel better healthwise to. I have a lot more time to do things. Right now my night sleeps are just catching up on sleep I have lost. Probably why I still feel tired when I wake up. It got to the point I stopped eating. Now my appetite has returned.
Well 5 or 6 hours is okay for people who have never had insomnia and those in good health. I have years of sleep to catch up on. Everyone is different. |
Lol, if you think you need to catch up on "years of sleep", then good luck to ya!
Yes, things differ from person to person, but in that case, you shouldn't be asking for help from people that don't know YOU (we can't give you a cure suited for you and only you)! You really ought to go see a doctor... If you've seen a doctor and he/she hasn't been able help you, then you asking us for help is just idiotic! |

When it's a really hot day, I feel very tired. So the graph is strange to me because it implies that people become more tired when it is cold, doesn't it? A nap implies randomness to me because people usually do it when they are tired, which is at random times depending on what they've done that day ^-^; Quote:

Of course I didn't mean random nap times. Randomness is bad for your sleep pattern... Because, well, it wouldn't be a pattern if randomness was involved. If someone takes nap times, they should do it regularly, hence me talking about places that have regular nap times/siesta! |

But i only get 1 or 3 hours of sleep at a time and end up falling asleep at a friends house. *worse thing that has ever happened to me* My friends have been trying to help me out but nothing has worked for me and i dont eat or drink anything with sugar. Begin an exercise program, and make sure you go to bed and get out of bed at the same time each day.
The exercise program should begin early in the morning, and last for at least 45 minutes. I took up cycling when I was having trouble sleeping, riding 5 days each week. Not only was I able to sleep better, I had much more energy throughout the day, and the quality of my work greatly increased. Not to mention the fact that I lost several pounds of weight, and my resting pulse went from 64 bpm to 48 bpm. I'm waiting for the weather to warm up some more so I can begin riding more seriously once more. There are so many places to ride here, and the scenery is wonderful. |
Excerise, sex...i have trouble sleeping...it's always best to try ways of draining your energy levels so your body has to shut down, not in a dead way.
|
I can't get to sleep when it's dark for some reason...
So I sleep in morning instead! :] Maybe you should try. XDD Also, music helps. It bloches out other sounds and keep your mind busy without you trying, so you can sleep easily. |
Maybe some nice warm milk.
And I use "white noise" a lot. Like maybe a loud fan, or something of that nature. I can't sleep without some sort of constant noise. |

trying to stay awake? whenever i cant sleep, i just lay down and keep myself awake, then it does the opposite and i fall asleep. |
I have insomnia. But not that bad.
Run,jog do some excercise. Go to the zoo Spend along time there 2-3 hours. When you go back home you should be tired and hot. So get yourself a drink of cold water lay down watch some tv and see if you fall asleep. |
I usually use these vitamins called "melatonin" you can get them at walmart. they are completely natural and non habit forming. they are more of a supplement than a drug. melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone in humans and it usually causes sleepiness. you produce more when you are younger thats why babies sleep a lot, and they say you produce the most during your teen years which is why teenagers sleep a lot ( i know i did was i was that young) so basically when you take these pills it just makes up for the lack of melatonin your body produces when you get older. i usually take 1-2 when i cant sleep at night, and it works like a charm every time. hope this helps.

sleeping pills i would need three or four to get at least an hours sleep, and i cant get to sleep that way, its like impossible for me.T.T |
Try Yoga.
p/s:I think chamomile tea has a calming effect. |
I just turn on some music at low volume before going to bed. The constant sounds make me go to sleep :D
