I've been a vegetarian for about 10 years, now. When I move out I am going to move up to veganism.

I have not met one person who is veg*n. It is awfully lonely, sometimes. :/
But I go to VeggieBoards - Vegetarian Forum - Blogs , full of veg*ns, and that makes it a little less lonely. xD

I wouldn't consider an unhealthy lifestyle like that a step up. Cows need to be milked. Bees don't cry when we take their honey. And leather feels so nice :D Vegans tend to be so self-righteous...

Besides, by that logic, the next step up is fruitarianism. Yay, rotten fruit and you die when you're 35!

Vegetarianism... I've never seen a vegetarian tiger or eagle or bear. I guess they're wiser than us in many ways xD

Again, we agree on so many levels!

hi AngelRage :) I'm not entirely a vegetarian (I love salmon, shrimp chicken, pork & beef too much to give them up) but I do stick to a generally large vegetable diet with soy & tofu based products for health reasons. More and more we read about how diets rich in animal-based products aren't healthy and it should be on a moderate scale with most of our diet composed of fruits and vegtables. Here in the U.S. we're heavy on the beef and pork and chicken and not so good about filling up on veggies.

I'm so sorry that anyone would say something so cruel as calling you anorexic - that's beyond messed up.

An interesting fact is that people who eat a lot of animal proteins (like beef) tend to be more angry & aggressive people and health gurus blame it on the animal hormones within the meat.

You're better off than most of us I think because of your choice to be vegetarian. Have you checked out VegWeb.com or VegCooking.com ? The latter has an awesome video on Spinach-Asparagus wraps that looks sooooo good :)

Hi Angel!

I am also a veggie eater (vegan). Have been for the last 9 years.
I must say that I havent had much problems with people beeing ignorant or mean. I mean, there is always a few, but the majority is just like "ok, cool, how come" and so on. I usally dont make a big deal about it if people dont attack me (like what seems to happen here).

Im not a vegan cuz of health reasons (animal rights) but it's usally one of the benefits of beeing a veggie. Alot of people might say that "that type of diet dosent suit me" and "I got sic when not eating meat". Usally, those people didnt do their homework about veggie cooking. And sure, it dosent suit EVERYONE. But what does?

Seems like people get offended when you tell them you dont eat meat. I dont know why, but Im guessing they might feal guilty or something along those line, who knows...

I'm going to Tokyo in about 4 months and there are alot of veggie places I'm going to eat at! :happybunny:

Hmm...

apparently I've never posted in this one before..

I too am Vegetarian :ywave:

Why? well; i always have been; since conception; my parents are vegetarian and although they do eat fish (i now there's a specific name for that type of veggie; but i cant remember it right now...) They have never forced vegetarianism on me; i was always given a choice, but i like being veggie... I don't eat fish (something to do with the little mermaid when i was 8 apparently) , but i will have things with gelatine in (although i prefer Agar).

I don't have any particular beliefs about not killing animals for food (although I'd prefer that if we d kill animals, at least use the majority of the body for other uses as well; like native americans did); nor do i have any problems with touching, preparing or cooking meat.

I work in a cafe / resturant so i handle meat all the time; I live with my BF and a housemate who both eat meat, which i cook for them (like i'm letting them burn the house down).
this Xmas i even cooked; one shoulder of lamb, a of beef and a whole duck for them... some of it was a little gross... (i don't like meat on the bone much still) but it's ok now.

my basic mantra is; I'll prepare it, handle it and even cook it for you, but i just wont eat it.

so may (22) years of never eating meat (14 without fish) mean that if i do accidentally have meat i tend to get rather bad stomach cramps and /or vomiting.
I'll stick to the broccoli :p

[don't get me started on Quorn products; they're gross]

I;m getting ever so tired of threads that are 'i'm vegetarian, if you're veggie too, let's be friends'

I don't just befriend people on what they eat.
