how does Japanforum survive?
Hey...so does this site make money for the moderators or something...i don't payto use it or anything but there are like, advertisments for this site in Shojo Beat and stuff so I was just wondering...
|
my the site has some sponsors or something like that.. But you are right, I don´t see any advert here on this site, but there was an JF advert on youtube with 5 other sites so i got here^^ I hope they don´t arrears for making this site xD

Moderators get paid? That's news to me.

But seriously- who pays for the JF advertisements... And what need is there to pay to advertise when there is no income? Who owns JF? |
I have been asking that question for over a year, but no one here seems to know.
|
Well this is different. (i would think they would advertise there sponsers too)

I just imagine the owner of JF as a mysterious mafioso who is sitting in a smokey, leather-filled room. |

I find it hard to believe that no-one knows who owns JF/who pays for their advertisements. |
I thought Kudo was the king of the hill?
Isnt JF owned by web-japan or somethin like that? So i guess they will have their own funding thought advertising or something? |

I don't think Kudo is an admin. |
Haha wow...I never really thought of any of this...
I'm curious to know now too! |
Actually there are 3 admins here. But only ShinjukuEki shows up here to keep us informed. I'm guessing that the other two are more responsible for VirtualJapan.
|
I think Kudo seems to have some sort of contact with ShinjukuEki. I am not being sarcastic when I say I have no solid clue who made us moderators [I presume it was ShinjukuEki, though.] The reason for us being moderators technical aspect aside, is because people voted for us.
Perhaps the income comes from the main site which this forum is connected to? That seems to be a reasonable explanation. Saying that, most main sites with a forum I've seen have adverts on both... I am thankful we don't have ads here though! Haha moderators getting paid... now there is a good one! |
wow this is all new to me.
|
The REAL owners of JapanForum...

But i Still wonder. >.<? |
Yeah, I think JapanForum is run by the Yakuza. And they use their mob money to pay for everything and try and recruit others...

I know I`m certainly not being paid. I do all this out of the kindness of my heart. :rheart:
Seriously though - what I know is that Kudo is sort of the top mod (possibly first mod?) and there is email contact between Kudo and Eki. Eki is the one who promoted us to mod status, but Kudo is the one who made the selection. I get the feeling that Eki is the financial backing but that is about it. |

This is all very interesting, maybe this is all a big conspiracy, maybe we should come up with a members think-tank to solve this! Haha :P

Moderators are corrupt, a damnation to human logic. Topics are pointless, a condemnation to subject. A server like this would costly roughly $50 a year, or something along them lines. How does Japanforum survive? Well, it has you, a fellow Japanese enthusiast. No joke about the shait moderators though. |
well now you got me interested I thougth MMM or any mod would know all about JF, and now I want to know, also how old is forum anyway?
|
@zed: The forum was created at the beginning of 2006/end of 2005. It's still a baby.
So here is a brief history: It didn't start being very active until Sep. 2006 (I have no idea why) I have been a member of this site since Oct. 2006. I became a mod a few months later. The first mod on here was Vesperd, and then Kudo right after him. Kudo took the job as Eki's voice and seems to be the only one who can contact him. Every time I tried to make contact over the years I only ever received a couple of replies back. Eki only seems to show up to inform us of some sort of change to JF, or to announce the new mods. Eki is the only one (who is active) who can make mods. So basically the workings of the forum are even a mystery to the mods. I'm assuming ShinjukuEki owns the forum and operates it with a select few. One thing I do know is that ShinjukuEki's account on here is shared by multiple users. |

I was away for 15 days and only checked it out for short periods of times mostly to see if it was still there because I've been in forums that dont last or die too soon, and I like this one mostly because there are always people conected and it has good topics. I also like that the mods are active, in other places they just dont care. |
