How to give smoking up?
Hello everybody =) I have a harmful habit, how to give smoking up.
I tried to drink none smoking tablets, all the same after, again a while start to smoke. Can you help me with this habit ))) Thank you ) |
Mostly a lot of willpower. I'd suggest starting an exercise regime, that might help you change your mindset about smoking and encourage you to quit in the long run.

I would recommend gradually reducing the amount of smoking cigarettes per day. Count the approximate amount of how many cigarettes you smoke every day and then strictly keep reducing it by taking out one cigarette in every 2 weeks.

I quit smoking by using Chantix. I've been smoke free for almost two years now. I know a few people who have been successful with this as well. Although some had side effects like really strange dreams and one of my co-workers who had pre-existing stomach problems had a bad reaction.

its not purely a chemical thing, some people are stuck because they have a fixation on putting their hand to their mouth. try using fake cigarette's

Start chewing gums....it helps so you dont have to think,"I need a cigarette".
If this doesnt work.Then think about your long term health problems....Lungs paticularlly.I was a chain smoker the it came to a time I couldnt sleep face down.It always felt as if my lungs were gong to fall out.They were so heavy due to increased weight by smoke. Also you might find breathing difficult depending on bodily functions...happened to a friend of mine. |
dude you gotta just tough it out man - it takes a lot of willpower but if you have truly decided to give up then you should have it ! plus definitely exercise becasue you will most probably put on weight when you quit so ya gotta make sure you keep knocking it off !

I drank a monster every time I wanted a cigarette, it helped, wasn't exactly that healthy, but it was better than smoking.

Easy for everyone to tell this person all this, but in the end it's all up to them. I quit the habit a while back took alot to get on track but something that is a fact you are able to break almost any habit in 30 days.

It is so easy for non smokers to tell you just quit or it is will power. Truths is the addiction nicotine gives you plus the power of the habbit itself is the hardest thing in the wrold to break apart from.
I smoked for over 20 years and I tried everything to quit. Gums, patches, sucking on a straw...we smokers know all the tricks that should help us. Nothing would beat that satisfaction that a smoke gives you. Like the other guy in the previous post I tried Chantix too and in 2 weeks I quit smoking. With me, my wife as well used Chantix and quit smoking as well. I had convinced my mother to use that medicine too (a 40 year smoker), unfortunately the week before she was supposed to start using it, they found her a small cell lung cancer, which is the smoker cancer, one of the deadliest cancers around. She lived 4 months after she was diagnosed. |

You have to set your mind that you're really quitting and a lot of willpower. Find something else to do instead of smoking like chewing a gum and ask support from your family and friends. They can help you to stay focused.

it depends a lot on how much you smoke and for how long have you been smoking.
if it is less than four to six years probably willpower and alot of determination will do the trick, but if it is more than that and I'm sure you will need help. also exercise helps alot. |
Smoke in front of your four year old nephew, and wait for him to ask for one. If that doesn't make you wanna quit... Then I don't know what will.
It sure as hell scared me into quitting that awful crap. |

How to give up smoking?
Giving up smoking is not an easy task especially those who refuse. It has to come from the smoker and not someone else.

Who has been a long time smoker knows what this is about. I paied 16 US dollars a pack of smoke one day I didn't have. I have never smoked around kids, so my wife and I decided to avoid smoking in the house, so I ended up smoking outside with a temperature below 0 (farenheit). I went to a field trip with some friends when I was teenager and we finished sigarettes in the morning. In the middle of country there was no where to find more smokes...we started smoking straws (literally picking up straws from the field and smoked them).
I had my step daughter telling me and my wife stop smoking, it's gonna kill you and we wouls shut them up. Having someone telling you how harmful it is smoking won't do any good, either you will start lying to yourslef or you will start admitting it is gonna kill you and you won't care. I had been smoke free before for whole 2 years, it was enough a little bit of stress due to work and family situations and I started smoking again. Now I have been smoke free for 1 year (right this month I celebrated the year) and sometimes I still wish I had a sigarette between my fingers, not that often, maybe once a month...but still...Seeing my mother dying for lung cancer was an awakening situation (even tho I had lost others due to this before) and I decided no matter what I am not starting again. BUT you need help constantly. The presence of a child, wife or someone dear that reminds you not start again and why! So yes, to stop smoking you need to want it, it cannot be imposed to you, but that is not enough. You will need help. Someone around you to give you support all the time and that you can lean on in the moment of weakness. Someone who is ready to stay near you even when you are mean and rude, because you might turn into it when you really want a smoke. The first time I quit with my wife we did it cold turkey together. We managed to do it, but we noticed in the first times without smokes we would fight for anything, we never fight, but in that period we would fight above any single crap there was to fight about. We both ended up yelling things that soon later we both regretted...but we couldn't just help it. You see the persons helping you as enemies trying to harm you, even tho you know 100% they are trying to help you. Same old crap...you still lies to yourself. The second time went much more smoother (I know I cheated by using the medicine I mentioned before), but quitting that way was an easy walk. In fact I was smoking all the way through the therapy with the medicine. Day after day the sigarettes would lose flavour always more and would give me always less satisfaction. Once I would have stopped watching a soccer match many times to go out smoke, while on therapy I notice I could delay a sigarette even of several hours...till the day I just stopped without almost noticing it. THIS IS NOT A COMMERCIAL. Nothing comes into my pockets and I really don't care if you quit one way or the other, but I will be glad for you if you do quit. I have just told you the story of an old time smoker. I started smoking when I was 14 years old. Now I am 37. I am not sure if quitting will ever fix the damages that I have already done to my body, but for sure I don't want to add evil to the evil already there ;) |
I have read the book of Allen Karr (Easy way to stop smoking), 'n gave up smoking for 5 month, but I started smoking again =) Maybe this book will help you =)
