need info on sexting
hi! i am working on an academic paper pertaining to teen sexting. U.S. teens are facing harsh legal consequences for sexting. i was wondering if sexting is common in japan, and if so, how is it being handled. i'd appreciate any comments!

Hey,
Well I don't really know whether it exists in Japan or not but you can visit this page to know more about it: Sexting - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I hope it will help you |

The OP is asking for information on sexting outside of the US and if it exists. This thread will not become a debate on the merits of sexting or anything else outside the OPs request, or else it will be closed.

I was trying to look up information for you, but I'm not finding much specifically for Japan on the whole sexting business. I keep coming across US cases. Maybe there's a certain aspect to it you can include so that it can be narrowed down some more. I'm a bit curious of this myself.

i'm starting to think this issue is mostly unique to the USA. they make such a big deal about it here. just wondering, what do you guys think about kids going to prison for this? do you think that's extreme?

Ok, I missunderstood something on wikipedia so I thought of it as nothing bad^^
MMM: keep cool, I´ve just asked a tiny question ;) :vsign: at spirit: I´ve asked a friend in japan and he said he didn´t hear about it and non of his friends neither so I think it does not really exist in japan or that is at least not popular, about it´s legally nobody was able to tell me something about it but I think (hope^^) it´s forbidden. Edit: I´ve just read that japan is planning to ban mobile phones from schools to prevent something like this at least at the schoolyard so I think it´s forbidden anyways. |
I don`t really think it`s common in Japan. I can`t say that I`ve even heard about it - and although there are tons of sites offering to hook you up with a phone friend... The ultimate goal is to meet up with them for real life action, not sexual talk.
In my experience and observances, people in Japan seem a lot less embarrassed about actually doing the act than talking about it. I would say this includes photographing bits and pieces. For as mainstream as camera phones are, I have to say that I think "sexting" is fairly uncommon. |
I have friends/rel with teenagers, I could see what they say if you still need opinions?
