Japanese Folklore & Supernatural
Does anyone know of a good website with information on Japanese folklore and the supernatural? I've heard of Oni, Kappa, Zashiki-Warashi and Tengu, but haven't found much interesting information on them. A website with stories would be nice, too.
Just interested in the history of said demons and such. |
Here Here found this website for you ^^

Japanese spirits and monsters are called "yokai". Make that your search term.

I remember my dad coming upon a japanese book one time but we don't remember what it was called anymore but the book was basically a whole classification of the different types of ghosts in japan and there was at least 115 different types i remember that they classified:confused:

if monsters and spirits are YOKAI what about the ONI? what do they stand for?

Yeah. I've always thought of Yokai as smaller spirits (kitsune and such) and Oni as ogre type demons that have a darker spirit. And the Tengu, I believe eats small Yokai and Oni. But that's just my opinion.

All this talk of demons and whatnot makes me think of Onimusha. Anyone up here know this game?
