Punk Is Dead.
 

I'm sick of seeing this shit.
When I think of Punk I think of people being pissed of at the world.
Being a punk today is all about comformity..
It used to be about being yourself and not caring what others think.
But now if you dont have a vest covered in studs and patches you aren't shit.
At least to modern day punks.
Now punk is reduced to nothing but a mere fashion statement.
All I see out of poeple that claim to be "punks"
Its "cool" to be "punk" now and I"m getting a little pissed.
What do you guys think of this bullshit?

Punk is political, and it still exists. It just isn't usually able to survive being picked up by a record label.

*Nods* As much as I hate to admit it, punk is pretty much dead (though I saw something once that said 'Punks not dead, it just kind of sucks right now' which made me laugh). All the bands that say they're 'punk' really aren't. They may dress the part but they're a long way from truely defining punk. I mean look at the original punk bands (The Clash, The Misfits, Sex Pistols)- they didn't give a shit what people thought and did shit that would make people hate them. Now it's just, they sing about it but they don't have to actions to match their words.

Thank you, you summed up my post pretty well. Its not completely dead though, theres still a few good newer bands, like Leftover Crack, Choking Victim and Star Fucking Hipsters..

This conversation is as played-out as Punk itself.



It can only be found on a local level... Why would you support a punk band with a record deal?

Yeah..I realized that after I posted it and already mentioned I was beating a dead horse.

Punk has also always been about being " cool"
Not conforming is the oldest "cool" trick in the book.

All I can say is...


Be yourself.
Say what you think is necessary to say.
Stay happy.
And stop trying to give it some sort of label.
